A hallmark of “alternative activation” (M2) of macrophages
is high arginase activity, which competes with inducible NO
synthase for L-arginine, the common substrate
of both enzymes.
IL-10 induces arginase-2 expression
Up-regulation of IL4RA by IL10 correlates with increased
IL4-dependent expression of arginase-1 (ARG1).
